Contemporary garden design with a wild side.
Alexa is a garden designer working in Highams Park as well as other parts of London and Essex. She loves to create beautiful and functional outdoor spaces that embrace nature.
Alexa trained at leading horticultural school, Capel Manor College. Since then, she’s won a Silver Merit award at BBC Gardeners’ World Live 2018 and worked with fellow designers at RHS Chelsea Flower Show and RHS Hampton Court Garden Festival, as well as many residential clients with various needs and spaces.
Most of Alexa’s clients have never hired a garden designer before, so it’s not surprising they might not know what to expect. She explains: “By engaging a garden designer you’re working with a professional who not only has imagination and artistic flair, but, importantly, has appropriate training and experience in the principles of design, an understanding of relevant legislation, and strong knowledge of plants and hard materials.”
Alexa works from the general to the detailed, fully understanding her clients’ gardens and how they need to use them first. She makes sure the geometry of the space will work functionally long before she selects hard materials or specific plants. This is why a garden planned from the outset as a whole hangs together better than one that has been developed bit by bit. “It sounds obvious, but you wouldn’t build a house without the services of a qualified architect. I believe collaborating with me will save you stress, time and money and produce an outdoor space you can be proud of.”
