Our local scouting activity centre near Highams Park Lake “the Mally” is currently closed, as it is in need of some love and attention. This is a wonderful resource to have on our doorstep and our local kids love the Mally – they need help to get it up and running again!
So it can be re-opened, the local scouts who manage the Mally are looking for volunteers to help out at a work day on Saturday 29th February.
If you can lend your skills for a day (or more) to help get it back up and running again you would be very welcome. They are looking for all sorts of help, plumbers, gardeners, painters, electricians, welders and general dogsbodies (to do the necessary but unskilled chores).
It’s a lovely facility and the building and the surrounding woods were donated to the people of Waltham Forest by Sir Stuart Mallinson in 1981. The Mally is available for hire by anyone and it can sleep up to 30 people when not in use by the beavers, cubs or scouts.
