New library window display makes a splash…
A water feature has sprung up at Hale End library thanks to the new book from local author Ian Brown and the latest adventure inspired by Highams Park tortoise, Albert.
The window display at the library to showcase the new Albert picturebook ALBERT AND THE POND features a “pond”, “goldfish”, a frog and, of course, a tortoise. Plus images galore from the new book and others from the series.
Albert and the Pond is the fifth book in the Albert series with each story inspired by Ian’s real family pet tortoise. The real Albert is more than 80 years-old and is growing ever more famous on social media.
“It’s always a delight to be invited to put up a window display at the library. It’s also a challenge to think how to go about it, sometimes. Hand-crafting fish was fun,” said Ian. “I always like to support the library and to encourage people to use this great local asset. They have been a wonderful support to me and the books. I’m delighted to have gifted copies of all the books to Hale End.”
A display seen inside the library also features Ian’s other series of picturebooks Hugg ‘n’ Bugg about a messy yeti and his friendly flea.
So far, Ian, also a tv writer and producer, hasn’t added a real yeti to his Highams Park menagerie.
All Ian’s books are available to loan from Hale End library and to buy from V and A Books.
