RULES
There are three age categories for entries:
- Under 12 (in year 6 or below);
- 12 – 18;
- Over 18
- Artwork titles should link to our neighbourhood of Highams Park and suggested themes.
- Entry forms must include your name, address, e-mail, age (if under 18, please parent/guardian e-mail address) and title of painting.

- Your artwork must be 2D painted or mixed media (watercolour, pastel, oil, charcoal, pencil, gouache, or other hand done forms). Digital or photographic media does not form part of this competition.
- Artworks should be no larger than A2 or 18 x 24 inches (approx. 40cm x 60cm) and no more than 4 inches or 10cm deep
- Please bring your art work and entry form to Hale End Library, Highams Park from 10am to 5.30pm on Wednesday 13 May 2026 or from 6 to 6.30 at The Station Rooms, Highams Park Station, E4 9LA
- At registration, a small label will be placed on the reverse of your artwork to record entry details. You will be given a receipt to reclaim your artwork.
- Three local artists and HPS committee members will select a winner and at least two highly commended artworks in each category. The judges’ decisions are final.
- Prizes sponsored by Central Estates – £50 winner & £25 each to two highly commended artworks in 12-18 and 18 plus categories; £20 for winner under 12 category, with three £10 prizes for highly commended artworks
- Shortlisted artworks will be on display at Hale End Library from 14 to 16 May as part of the Highams Park Art Trail, and winners in each category will be announced on Saturday 16 May 2026.
- Please note, images of your artwork may be used in competition and HPS publicity both before and after 16 May 2026.
- If your artwork is not selected for display, you must collect it from Hale End Library from 1 pm to 3 pm on Saturday 16th May or make an alternative arrangement with The Highams Park Society
