Girlguiding Highams Park is in need of new volunteers now that several of our current leaders are embarking on university courses. Without more volunteers some of our units may have to close. Can you help?

Our units provide fabulous experiences for all of our girls who are aged between 5 and 21. We help them to try something they often have never done before; help them to develop new skills, self-esteem and independence; give them the chance to make new friends and, most importantly, ensure they have fun, fun, fun!

We particularly need help with 2 Brownie units and one Guide unit based at Winchester Road Methodist Church and Thorpe Hall School. Although the current pandemic means we are unable to meet indoors, we are still providing our girls with outdoor activities and hosted zoom meetings. Our meetings last between 1 and 2 hours depending on the age of the girls.

It isn’t just our girls who have fun – as leaders we get a great deal of satisfaction and enjoyment through watching our girls becoming responsible, active and delightful young adults– and we also get to experience adventures and challenges that often passed us by when we were growing up.  In short, we have fun, fun, fun too!

If you think you may be able to help – either on a regular or occasional basis – we would be delighted to hear from you.

If you are interested in finding out more please contact Janice on janice_pettit@btinternet.com who will be very happy to talk to you about what is involved and how you could be included in our guiding family.

Thank you
