The latest exhibition at Humphry’s Café is by local artist Helen Parsliffe. The exhibition will run from 13th January to 18th February. You can find out a little about Helen on the page below:
I initially trained as a Graphic Designer in the mid eighties and have worked in the creative and communications industry for over 22 years. In 2010, I took a career break and returned to
university and completed my degree in Illustration and Printmaking with First class honours. I now practice as an artist and Illustrator as well as designer/tutor.
My work currently spans a variety of disciplines and mixed media. My practice forms a process of exploration of many aspects of cultural, observational, humorous, historical and mythical references. I like to experiment with a cross section of mediums in order to encapsulate the essence of my subject matter and maximize my creativity. This includes the use of many print processes such as photo-transfer and etchings.
I have developed a natural interest for history and for people watching. I have used my many life experiences/observations to influence my work and creativity. I will continue to explore processes to create more new and exciting images to broaden my knowledge and skill base.
London in Print
The essence of this exhibition is a series of images of London scenes and landmarks appropriated to create different compositions in print. The process used is phototransfer printing which lends itself to the subject matter creating atmospheric black and white images. All of which are for sale.
