‘Spring Gardens’ By Rachel Hogg – Art Exhibition at Humphry’s

The latest exhibition at Humphry’s Café is ‘Spring Gardens’, by Chingford based Artist Rachel Hogg is a series of Acrylic Paintings and Collages created earlier this Spring. The work pivots around the concept of creativity for relaxation, play and interconnectivity, drawing on the creative process of free drawing with scissors and paint.

Many of the organic shapes, vibrant colours and exuberant patterns that make up the work are inspired by floral patterned surface designs found on wallpaper and fabric. The structure of the work is largely influenced by Victorian Gardens seen from a bird’s eye view, Spring flowers and the work of French Artist Henri Matisse.

You can see some examples of Rachels’ lovely work in at the bottom of this page.

About the Artist
Rachel Hogg is a London based Artist living in Chingford. She has an MA in Fine Art Drawing from Camberwell and specialises in floral Prints, Charcoal & Ink Drawings, Mixed Media Collage and hand drawn Stop Motion Animations.

She loves exploring the beauty, vibrancy and intricacy of nature in her art and draws inspiration from daily walks in local greenery. A lot of her work is influenced by Victorian Gardens, colours that pop, William Morris, The Lorax, David Attenborough and places such as Kew Gardens and Epping Forest.

She is most at peace when enjoying a sunny walk through a field, listening to the birds, soaking up the tranquility of nature while dreaming up her next art piece. She enjoys working with other creative souls in her local community and runs fun and relaxing art classes, exhibitions and loves a good natter over a cup of coffee.
