The Epping Forest Conservators (‘the Conservators’) have asked us to let people know that if everything goes according to plan their contractors will begin demolition of the burnt out boathouse at Highams Park Lake on 16th February.
All the buildings and fencing on the site will be removed apart from an electrical outbuilding which will remain and be fenced off. The concrete base and the retaining wall in front of the boathouse will also remain for the time being until the Conservators decide what to do with the site.
The Conservators are considering options for the site and will consult with people in due course but at the moment the principal goal is to make the site safe.
The demolition is expected to take around three weeks to complete. During the demolition period the contactors will be based in a portable office near the bridge at the end of the landing stage.
