Thames Water will be undertaking re-lining work to the sewer pipe that runs under The Highams Park (by the Lake) from Keynsham Avenue to Tamworth Avenue. The existing sewer pipe is very old and in poor condition, there is a risk that if the pipe leaks it would cause serious contamination to Highams Park Lake.
The new liner should give the sewer pipe a new functional life span of about 50 years.
The work will commence on 20th February 2023 and last for about 3 weeks.
There is limited ground excavation involved in the re-lining work however a small section of about 10 metres of soft dig may be required.
There will be a number of large vehicles driving into the park in and out of the park on a daily basis. Access into the Park is via the Henry’s Avenue entrance. The vehicles will drive in together at about 8am and leave at about 5pm, they shouldn’t be any vehicle movement in the park during the day.
Thames Water will need to set up work compounds on the paths near the Keynsham Avenue and Tamworth Avenue entrances but they will ensure that access is maintained either via a temporary path or by an alternative path eg via the café. Part of the work will take place outside the front of Humphry’s café which may obstruct access to the compound behind the café.
