The Highams Park Snedders working with the Ching Action Group on their ‘Listen to The River Ching’ project in Brookfield Meadow (between the Ching and Highams Park School). We have been clearing scrub to restore the meadow and to make the area feel more hospitable. On 2nd September we installed some beautiful animal sculptures and benches by chainsaw carver Marshall Lambert.
As part of the Listen to the River Ching project, Ellie Wilson – violinist & composer – will be working with pupils from Joseph Clarke School to create a musical composition. This will be based on hydrophone recordings above and below the water of the Ching at Brookfield Path. Ellie would also like to incorporate local people’s recollections of the Ching from past decades. If you have a memory you would like to share, please contact Ellie on elliewilsonmusic@gmail.com to join in with this exciting project.”
This project is still a work in progress but we have included a few photographs of the sculptures and benches below. We will add this page as we work on the project so you can see how things are coming along:

This project is sponsored by a Waltham Forest’s Make it Happen grant to The Ching Action Group and supported by the Highams Park Planning Group
