A visit to Flicks Hair & Beauty Salon in Highams Park.
On a cold March day of rain and sun, I popped by Flicks Hair and Beauty Salon, based on the Broadway in Highams Park. There I met salon owner Katriye Uno who put down her brushes to chat in her airy salon, with its smart greyscale décor, big, ornate mirrors and friendly banter.
What brought Flicks to Highams Park?
We’ve been in business for 30 years. We started off in Walthamstow and then moved to Highams Park. It’s a great area. We live near the lake and park and yet can get into town in about 20 minutes!
Who comes to your salon?
We have a good mixture of clientele, partly because customers stay with us over the years, returning even when they have moved away. We are salon-based and offer a full range of services, from extensions and balayage colour techniques through to more traditional shampoo and sets.
Give me a tip about how to have beautiful, healthy hair?
Taking care of your hair is what really matters. Always buy good quality shampoo and conditioner. Don’t use too much heat and try to avoid over-processing your hair. Your hair changes as you age, it can get more difficult to manage. We use Matrix and Goldwell products.
