A History of Public Transport in Waltham Forest

Roger Torode, who is the chair of HPPG’s Transport Group, has given a fascinating  Online Talk on the development of public transport in this part of London, from stage coaches in the late 19th Century to the new electric trains on the Chingford Line today.  The talk was produced for the Friends of the London Transport Museum, and so focuses on transport history, but is of wider interest and includes historic street scenes of this area – including some of Highams Park – with the shops, fashions and activities of the time.  The pictures range between 140 years ago and one month ago!
It lasts 50 minutes and is available on:  https://youtu.be/JOIiHkkfXj8.
